Oysters, Boards, & Beer, Oh MY!

picture1Holy Smoke-y & the Brett, Batman! STANDUP Paddle Magazine featured a 20-page, full color article on our partnership with BOTE, focusing on both company’s efforts and support for clean water. This three year partnership has raised heavy funds for our SAVE OUR WATER campaign and other clean water initiatives. We hit up BOTE for a trip down the Hooch to the coast for some cold brews and fresh farmed oysters. STANDUP joined us for the paddle & camp trip for some R&R and important convos about clean water and the work being done to ensure the longevity of our rivers, streams, and oceans.

Check out some pics from the trip below. For more nitty gritty on the article, click here. To learn more about our SAVE OUR WATER campaign, visit our website.

Many thanks to BOTE for the amazing partnership and to STANDUP for the epic article. Cheers!

It’s 4:20…GMT!

Flowing soon on the Emerald Isle!

ireland edits-1

We met a lad named McGargles whose mind was blown by the flavor and freshness of our tasty brews – “We need this deadly beer in Ireland!” he screamed. He told us the 4.2 million people on his island had a craving for great American craft beer, and supply was short.

So we put some 420, IPA, Blue and Hash Session on a boat headed east, and SweetWater’s first international journey began. Thanks to our partners at Rye River Brewing Co. in Dublin, SweetWater will soon be sold at the top 100 craft beer retailers around the city, and on draft in many of Ireland’s pubs.

We’ll officially start flowing just in time for the Georgia Tech/Boston College game on 9/2. Headed over to watch? Stay tuned to facebook for the 411 on where you can grab a hometown coldie abroad.

Surfrider Foundation’s Clean Water Initiative

Since brewing our first batch of 420 nearly 20 years ago, we’ve grown and evolved, but a few core things have remained exactly the same:  We make great beer, have a fantastic time doing it, and we take care of the folks who take care of us and our planet.
That’s why our Save Our Water campaign is raising $100,000 to support five organizations who protect our natural resources and the places we like to play. One of those partner organizations is Surfrider Foundation, and more specifically their Clean Water Initiative.

Check out the 411 on Surfrider Foundation below, then keep scrollin’ to peep our co-branded schwag. Find out more about Save Our Water and how you can participate here.

Clean Water Initiative

Improving coastal water quality has been one of the Surfrider Foundation’s top priorities over the last 30 years. The Clean Water Initiative strives to protect our water resources and prevent pollution from reaching the ocean.

Ocean pollution is a serious problem. What is in our ocean water affects both the health of beachgoers and the sea creatures we love. For example, over 20,000 swim advisories and beach closures are issued every year to protect the health of beachgoers across the U.S. It’s unacceptable that a day at the beach could result in stomach flu, skin rashes, pinkeye, respiratory infections or worse.

Surfrider fights for clean water.

They protect our water resources and prevent pollution along our coasts and waterways through community engagement, water testing, planting ocean-friendly landscapes, and by advocating for holistic clean water solutions.

When you support the Surfrider Foundation, you support dedicated volunteers who are testing our ocean water for bacteria and toxins, raising public awareness and finding real solutions to ocean pollution through the Blue Water Task Force program.

You’ll also support the Ocean Friendly Gardens program, which prevents polluted runoff from reaching our ocean and local waterways, by simply planting landscapes that conserve water and filter pollution before they reach our beloved ocean.

Waterkeeper Alliance: 500 Waterways!

Here at SweetWater, we’re a bunch of guys and gals who love making and drinking great beer, and that goes hand in hand with our love for fishing and having a good time out on the water.

That’s why our Save Our Water campaign is raising $100,000 to support five organizations who protect our natural resources and the places we like to play. One of those partner organizations is Waterkeeper Alliance, the largest and fastest growing nonprofit solely focused on clean water.

Check out the 411 on their 500 Waterways program below, then keep scrollin’ to peep our co-branded schwag. Find out more about Save Our Water and how you can participate here.

500 Waterways

Humans have 1% of water on the planet to work with and we’re not taking care of it. One in two hospital beds are occupied by men, women and children with waterborne diseases.

The climate problem is a water problem. Without clean water, there can be no healthy life. How do we make this right?

The Waterkeeper movement was started by a band of blue-collar fisherman on New York’s Hudson River in 1966. Their tough, hands-on, community-oriented brand of environmental activism sparked the River’s miraculous recovery and inspired other individuals and organizations to launch Waterkeepers from the Mississippi to the Amazon, the Tigris to the Ganges. 500 Waterways aims to continue growth of Waterkeepers worldwide to protect 500 waterways across the globe.

Your support will help:

  • PATROL: Waterkeepers are the boots on the ground and the eyes on the water.
  • EDUCATE: By shining a light on the importance rivers play to our communities, Waterkeepers encourage recreation and celebrate our waters.
  • ENFORCE: Waterkeepers ensure laws are enforced and hold offenders accountable.
  • SET STANDARDS: Swimmable, drinkable, fishable water worldwide.
  • STRENGTHEN: Waterkeepers strengthen regulation where it exists, and create it when it does not.

Trout Unlimited: Embrace a Stream!

One of those partner organizations is Trout Unlimited, America’s leading trout and salmon conservation organization.

Check out the 411 on their Embrace a Stream program below, then keep scrollin’ to peep our co-branded schwag. Find out more about Save Our Water and how you can participate here.

Embrace a Stream

Embrace A Stream (EAS) is the flagship grant program for funding Trout Unlimited’s grassroots conservation efforts through small grants on projects that advance TU’s mission of conserving, protecting, and restoring coldwater fisheries and their watersheds.

Often, grants sometimes have a minimum fundraising requirement which may be too high for local chapters to reach. With the help of funding from the Embrace a Stream program, local charters can get the boost they need to secure much larger grants and make a bigger impact in their communities.

  • Trout Unlimited annually raises money from TU members, corporate and agency partners, and foundations to distribute as small grants to local TU chapters.
  • Since its inception in 1975, EAS has funded more than 1,000 individual projects for a total of $4.4 million in direct cash grants. Local TU chapters and councils contributed an additional $13 million in cash and in-kind services to EAS funded projects, for a total investment of more than $17 million.
