The lowdown on TWO 420 Fest collaboration beers
We teamed up with The Hip Abduction and Slightly Stoopid to cook up two super limited release brews for 420 Fest. Most of it will be pouring at the fest, but we’ll have a lil sneak peek of both at the brewery in the weeks before the fest.
Hipbiscus Tropical Ale
Available April 5-9 (and at the Fest!)
The Hip Abduction hails from St Pete and has roots in West African and early Jamaican reggae/dub music, so Nick Nock tapped into their breezy vibe to brew up a super drinkable pale ale featuring Cascade and Amarillo hops with a zest of hibiscus and passion fruit. The band signed off on the liquid after laying down an acoustic set in our tasting room and we may or may not have done a fair bit of “quality assurance” with them to really make sure it was ready.
Citra Hash Stoopid
Available April 12-16 (and at the Fest!)
Ever willing to suffer for his art, Nick trekked down to Florida to catch a smokin’ set from Slightly Stoopid and meet backstage to plan their liquid. What came out of the mind monsoon was a Mexican lager with a light blonde body. Bravo hops add bitterness and orange flavor, while a boatload of Citra Hash in the whirlpool delivers a citrus punch.
We’ll have EXTREMELY limited glassware and growlers for each collab during their brewery runs – suggest getting here early if you don’t wanna miss out.
Man if you weren’t here Sunday for our 20th Anniversary party you missed out big time. Heady brews, jams from moe. and about 4,000 of our closest friends blowin the roof off the brewery. Luckily all is not lost if you DID miss out…we’re doin it again in a couple months at 420 Fest but this time adding Widespread Panic, Trey and a shitload of other heady names to the list. Enjoy the pics courtesy of Addison Hill Photo.
20 years of heady beers, killer shows, half-baked fishing trips and stories we wish we could remember. What a long strange trip it’s been, and we’re only getting started.
Help us celebrate our first 20 years of makin’ memories by blowing the roof off the brewery February 19. Our friends from moe. will be taking the stage for two sets of mind-melting jams. Bar Czar Cam has taps all over the building and parking lot stocked with 30+ brews from the cellar and beyond. Everyone who comes will go home with a bottle of our 20th Anniversary Ale, a hash-infused brett IPA.
Tickets are $30/adv $40/door, but if you’re lookin for that last minute Valentine’s Day gift we got you… a special wombo combo package with two tix and a screen-printed copy of the poster below:
Back in September we introduced yall to our pilot system: a 10 barrel brewhouse that would give our brewers the opportunity to test new and experimental recipes in relatively small batches. The plan was to serve the results in our tasting room, but then they started cooking up some seriously tasty shit we knew the world needed to taste. So…
Today we’re stoked to announce the first production run of one of those recipes will be hitting shelves in the Spring Variety Pack next week.
Hatchery Series #1 is an India Pale Ale exclusively featuring Mosaic hops. Expect notes of juicy orange, mango, citrus and passionfruit with a tropical and biscuity nose and drinkable 6.4% ABV.
Our brewers Chad & Lucas came up with the recipe, so we’ll let them say it best:
“We chose the mind-blowing Mosaic Hop and a simple grain bill; decided on a hefty late hop addition and a generous dry hop schedule – all to be st showcase the flavor and aroma. The result is a light, crushable, moderately bitter brew for hopheads like us.”
You’ll be able to find it in our tasting room while it lasts and on shelves in the Spring bottles Variety Pack through April. Can’t wait for yall to try this special creation, and stay tuned for what’s coming next.

Flowing soon on the Emerald Isle!
We met a lad named McGargles whose mind was blown by the flavor and freshness of our tasty brews – “We need this deadly beer in Ireland!” he screamed. He told us the 4.2 million people on his island had a craving for great American craft beer, and supply was short.
So we put some 420, IPA, Blue and Hash Session on a boat headed east, and SweetWater’s first international journey began. Thanks to our partners at Rye River Brewing Co. in Dublin, SweetWater will soon be sold at the top 100 craft beer retailers around the city, and on draft in many of Ireland’s pubs.
We’ll officially start flowing just in time for the Georgia Tech/Boston College game on 9/2. Headed over to watch? Stay tuned to facebook for the 411 on where you can grab a hometown coldie abroad.
The headiest of the hoppy holiday of them all is back August 4 with a lip-smackin’ line up of IPAs – all for the usual $10 at the door (no advance tickets).
Here’s what we got flowin:
- Sunday 12:30 IPA – IPA with orange & clementine peels, and moscato grapes, cask conditioned with champagne yeast. A “mimosa IPA”
- Goin’ Tropical – Goin’ Coastal Pineapple IPA dry hopped with Nelson Sauvignon and Huel Melon hops
- Goin’ Postal – Goin’ Coastal with habanero, serrano and ghost peppers
- IPA keg conditioned with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis
- Hash Julep – Hash Brown with mint and vanilla beans
- Sweet Southern Hash – Hash Brown with black tea and Tupelo honey
We’ll also have grown up games from our friends at Atlanta Social Club, food trucks, tunes from Endless Fridays and 15% off all IPA schwag (online too!)
Plan to get here early – the first 200 folks will snag a limited edition IPA Day 2016 pint glass PLUS special brews are in limited amounts and will go quick!
Starting today, Louisiana’s Bayou and Acadiana regions just got a little more heady – SweetWater is now flowing with Buquet Distributing Co. (St. Mary, Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes) and Schilling Distributing Co. (Lafayette, Acadia, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion).
Cajuns craving our craft brews can now find 420, IPA, Blue and seasonals at bars and restaurants, in grocery store, package stores, and specialty bottle shops. Check out our Louisiana social platforms for all the details (including some launch events!)

Well, they found our brews!
Today, the majority of the 78,528 bottles from the 3,272 cases stolen from our brewery on Tuesday, June 21, were returned thanks to efforts by the GBI’s Major Theft Unit and Southeastern Transportation Security Council (SETSC) (the aforementioned they).
Of the 40 pallets stolen, 10 were recovered the day of the theft; the remaining 30 pallets (minus a few cases) were returned today.
This is a big step forward in the resolving the case, according to GBI special agents and Cargo Theft Investigator Bob Hastings of SETSC, who tracked down the remaining stolen beer. GBI and SETSC will continue to assist the Atlanta Police Department in solving the crime.
Unfortunately, the return of the stolen brews does not mean the product is able to be sold or consumed–every bottle will be destroyed. The product is being sent to Synergy Solutions Crisp County, a zero landfill, biofuel and waste recycling company.
Many thanks for all the hard work from the APD, GBI and SETSC for helping us get our brews back!
Need yalls help – early this morning 2 of our trailers were stolen from the brewery, both loaded up with a total of almost 3300 cases of beer for AM pickup. We found the trailers via GPS but both were empty.
If yall find any Summer Variety Packs on the shelf that are UNSORTED (aka all one style) dated 9/20 or 9/21, call or email the brewery so we can start tracking this beer down. Keep an eye out for the Summer Variety Pack Case (24 pack of bottles) with the same date in weird places too.
If you’re a retailer and somebody other than our distributor tries to sell you beer, give us a heads up so we can follow up.
The really bad news is we were already having trouble keeping the Variety Pack and Goin Coastal on shelves cuz they were selling like hotcakes, and this was basically our entire inventory in Atlanta – so you may not see it on shelves for a minute
