Brew Your Cask Off!

This March, get ready for one of the best SweetWater events to date. We’ve invited 80 special guests from restaurants, bars, and bottle shops all over Atlanta to come by the brewery, roll up their sleeves, channel their inner brewer, and create a one of a kind cask ale! Last year was our inaugural Brew Your Cask Off, but this year is going to be even better.

At the festival, you can also enjoy a plethora of real ales created by a few local celebrities, some media folks, home brewers, and even some of our our favorite charities created under the watchful eye of SweetWater brewers. Want to be a part of the action? Win a chance to be one of the guest brewers courtesy of Draft Magazine!

Gates open at 6 PM on Saturday, March 5, 2011 and the festival lasts until 10 PM. The judging is announced at 9, with both awards from our judges’ panel, as well at the people’s choice award. Get there early to sample 80 different casks created by 80 different amateur brewers, in addition to some casks SweetWater is creating for the occasion, as well as SweetWater’s full line up of heady brews. Food will be available as well.

Pre-sale during the tour on Dec 1st at the brewery gets you the smoking deal of $25 for the first 25 tickets sold, then $30 per ticket sold for the rest of that days tour, Dec 1st. Online sales begin on Dec 1st for $35 and day-of tickets are $40 which include unlimited cask samples, live music, and a souvenir sampling glass.

Getting CENSORED with Border Hop-per

Have you taken a trip to the Dank Tank recently? If so, you might have noticed our latest creation, the double-hopped IPA called Border Hop-per, brewed with fresh Citra hops and 8.6 percent ABV. This heady brew comes in 22 ounce bottles and on draft and is best served fresh.

If you manage to catch one of the bottles before INS does, you’ll notice it had to be edited. Turns out SOMEBODY doesn’t like our sense of humor and take on current events, and found the story of Señor Danko to be offensive.

Offensive? Us? Never!

What’s offensive in a few jokes about anchor babies, Buford Highway, green cards, and tacos? Señor Danko and his trusty burro Chi Chi are heroes for bringing those sticky Citra hops down to SweetWater in order to make the latest Dank creation. We should be celebrating them, not censoring them!

So if you can grab a hold of a Border Hop-per, feel free to play a little Mad Libs with the blanks and see if you can make it even more offensive. Call up a bunch of friends and discover who is the worst of all! Put it to La Migra!
