Crank Tank Peddles Out: Pics and Party Details

Compressed Crank Tank Bottle ShotWe’re not pullin’ a fast one on ya this Friday the 13th, but the bottling line has been killin’ it this week, pumping out our new Crank Tank brew – check out pics here. This lip smakin’ Helles lager (yeah we said lager) is a brew that’ll keep your chains running smooth at 5.8% ABV.

To give y’all some back story, Freddy made a visit to Camp Twin Lakes a few years ago, and learned about the great work they were doing for children facing serious illnesses, disabilities and other life challenges. What better way to show support than doing what we do best — brewing a beer for the cause!

We cranked down the fermentation temperatures to a chilly 11-degrees Celsius and lingered in the lagering process on this sucker for an extra crisp and refreshing finish. Typical of traditional Munich style lagers, Crank Tank is bright and balanced, quaffable after any long ride.

Folks, mark your calendar ‘cause six-packs are hitting shelves and kegs are rollin’ out on draft throughout the state of Georgia on Monday, Sept. 16, or peddle your way over to the brewery to sip on a freshie at our tours beginning Wednesday, Sept. 18. Drink ’em for the kiddos!

Speakin’ of peddling for a reason, we’re inviting bike and beer fans alike to join us on Team SweetWater at Spin For Kids bike ride and fundraiser benefiting Camp Twin Lakes this Oct. 19-20. Each year we pump a big fat check full of proceeds from Team SweetWater (and Crank Tank) straight back to Camp Twin Lakes. Join our team here.

Sunday Sippin’

The Nitty Gritty

What: Home-brewing sesh with Hop City
When: Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3:00
Where: SweetWater Brewery patio
Cost: Free!

Brewing and drinking great beer is what we’re all about, but if there’s anything that comes close to the highs we get from those activities it’s talking craft beer with fellow hop heads and sharing whatever nuggets of wisdom we can.

This Sunday, September 15, we’re gonna combine all four of those passions into one day of sippin’ shenanigans we’re calling Sunday School.

We asked our pals over at Hop City to come out for a little homebrew demo followed by a Q&A sesh led by our Resident Sipster, Zak. We’ll keep it nice and casual so everyone can enjoy and learn, from seasoned home brewers to the recently initiated to folks who just came out for our regular tour and tasting. We’ve also got a heck of a special glass you’ll only be able to pick up this Sunday and at future Sunday School sessions.

Wait a minute, future sessions? Ya heard right, we’re planning three more Sunday School Sundays for the rest of the year, each with a focus on shining some light into the deepest, dankest corners of the brewing world. Haven’t quite nailed down the deets yet, but we’re thinking October is gonna give you a up-close look at the nutty world of beer bloggers including a Tweetup with some of Atlanta’s most infamous web-based craft beer movers and shakers. We’ll keep you posted on the upcoming Sunday School dates as we get closer.

Best part is you don’t have to drop another dime to get in on the action. Just show up for normal tour hours Sunday at 2:30pm, pick up that sexy one-off glass and pony up on the Tasting Room Patio to learn around 3:00. See y’all there!
